The “George Enescu” National Museum (Bucharest) in partnership with The Museum of Art (Bacau) developed the International Experimental Painting Camp – Tescani 2008 - TRANSFER Project, held between 1- 21st August at „Dumitru and Alice Rosetti - Tescanu – George Enescu” department (Tescani/Bacau)। The event gathered 13 artists from Romania, Italy, Spain, UK, Republic of Moldova, USA.
The Transfer Project has related to the contemporary artistic movement as well as it tried to follow the simultaneous and successive participation of the specific working environments, at the level of its elaboration and the very own execution of the works। Thus, painting, photography, drawing, installation, video art could interpolate by changing their effects through pluralistic extensions. The expression and specificity translations, along with the mixed characters, sometimes with an unaccomplished finality - in order to leave open the path of the enunciation hypothesis, were all recaptured in the same idea of dynamism.

Tescani Painting Camp intends to create a favorable climate for contemporary experimental discourse, in a space really destined for artistic dialogue and intercultural dialogue। The new team from George Enescu National Museum in Bucharest, led by Laura Manolache as general director, comes forth with a pertinent project, coordinated by Silvia Costin: Internatinal Experimental Painting Camp with the theme of Transfer। Many international artists responded to this open call and the selected projects revealed the relevance of experiment as a research method in finding new means of expression, and also the interest for the complex problematic of transfer। Art is a dynamic phenomenon and painting is no longer a conventional media of expression, opening towards video animantion, photography, and installation as visual reasons to repress all prejudice over the limits of contemporary painting. The mediums converge, technical pluralism marks the conceptual factor and the artist interferes liberated by the sistematical cause of bidimensionality. The experiment remaines a necessary exercise that has the power to restore trust to those who are suspecting painting or any other kind of artistic form with the iminence of consumation. The presence and activity of the artists from different cultural areas in Tescani represent a solid proof in favour to the necessity of experimental practice in painting, placing Tescani in the circuit of the contemporary artistic phenomenon.

I comment on “science for the science’s sake”, the pleasure of enjoying yourself through the information exces, the “absolutist” and “allmighty regime” of science. My images use symbols of power or sexual joy, talking about the absurdity of this “regime”, sometimes with irony and sometimes with brutality. For me, the topic of the painting camp, “the transfer”, has meant the way from the real world information processing to the transfiguration into a world in which the meanings are elevated to the surreal. Daily round of images, of eyes hurried passing by, of progressive slowness. Form a certain point forward the foil is covering directly the nose, the chin, the cheek of the other. It reveal him without kowing him and most of all without deconspiring him. The crash is limited to the long series of atoms from one point to another and back again. This is the way we are and derive one through another. I have asked Maria if she wants to change one another and meet at one meter and a half in three weeks. Who we are asking ourselves on what is made our rhythm of time. How many are we and in how many pieces can we multiply ourselves during each second.I have built a path that I can remake each time I heavy tread it and paint it in printed ink
